Indonesia denies imposing 200% import tariffs on China

印尼否认对中国征收200%进口关税

[Antara news agency] The Indonesian government has denied allegations of 200 percent import tariffs targeting China. The Indonesian Ministry of Finance said that the government's import tariff policy does not target any particular country, but is based on the type of goods and economic interests.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Finance said the recent tariff adjustments were made to protect domestic industries, especially the steel sector, from unfair competition. The policy was in line with World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations and international trade norms.

The Ministry of Finance emphasized that Indonesia's trade relations with China remain strong, with extensive cooperation between the two sides in a number of areas. The Government of Indonesia will continue to promote fair and mutually beneficial trade relations in order to achieve sustainable economic development.

The Ministry of Finance also pointed out that the adjustment of import tariffs was aimed at ensuring the healthy development of the domestic market while providing a level playing field for local producers. The Government will continue to monitor the market situation and adjust the tariff policy as necessary to protect the country's economic interests.
