Chinese firms invest Rp 13 trillion in East Kalimantan

A Chinese company is ready to invest Rp 13 trillion in East Kalimantan, said the acting governor of East Kalimantan (Kaltim), who is also on an official visit to China from June 19-22, 2024, said. The company interested in investing is from Anhui Province, China, and they are interested in investing in chemical agricultural materials such as pesticides, herbicides, and glyphosate. The vice president of the company has already visited several locations in Indonesia for investment, and the fact that East Kalimantan Province and Anhui Province are twinned as a friendly province provides an opportunity for the company to choose a location. They require 1,000 hectares of investment land to build an integrated industrial zone with a complete supply chain and a strategic location at the edge of the water/sea.
The investment project is divided into two parts, with an initial investment of US$300 million and subsequent development of US$500 million, totaling Rp 13 trillion. He appreciated the investment plan of the Anhui companies as East Kalimantan, as a strategic partner of Indonesia's new capital (IKN), is currently encouraging the accelerated development of the agricultural sector.
