Guangxi and Indonesia strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence

Indonesia's relationship with China continues to heat up in the tech sector, with a delegation from Nanning, the capital of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, having just concluded an intensive visit to Indonesia aimed at deepening cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy.The two sides held a series of strategic discussions focusing on the development of AI technology and concrete cooperation in building the China-ASEAN AI Innovation Center. Guangxi regards Indonesia as a major partner in promoting the development of AI in Southeast Asia and has launched the "AI+Manufacturing" action plan. In the past two years, Guangxi has signed more than 30 digital cooperation projects with ASEAN countries. Indonesia's deputy minister of communications and digital affairs positively welcomed Guangxi's initiative, saying that China's open-source AI models such as DeepSeek meet Indonesia's needs. Since the launch of the 2020-2045 National AI Strategy, Indonesia has been steadily progressing on the path of digital transformation, providing a broad space for deepening cooperation with Guangxi. The director of Guangxi Information Center emphasized the joint construction of the China-Indonesia AI Innovation Center to make Indonesia the engine of ASEAN's AI development. Analysts believe that Indonesia has the potential to become a major player in Southeast Asia's AI sector with its strategic location, demographic advantages and vast digital market.
