Indonesia's parliament asks government to take measures against illegal imports

印尼国会要求政府采取措施应对非法进口

The deputy chairman of Indonesia's parliamentary committee 7 urged the government to take immediate and tough measures to save the domestic industry from the onslaught of massive imports. She emphasized that the problem could not be dealt with by the Ministry of Industry alone, but should involve all ministries and relevant agencies on a national basis. She pointed out that the proliferation of imported goods not only in the textile industry, but also in areas such as electronics and footwear, and possibly even in the automobile industry, had led to the deterioration of the domestic industry and an increase in layoffs in various sectors. She asked the Minister of Trade to revoke the Trade Minister's Regulation that was deemed to facilitate the entry of imports into Indonesia to the detriment of domestic businesses, and also urged the Minister of Finance to amend the Finance Minister's Regulation that was deemed to facilitate the entry of imports into the domestic market. She emphasized the need to take legal action against those involved in illegal imports, noting that weak customs controls made smuggling difficult to control. The Seventh Committee of the National Assembly pledged to continuously monitor domestic industrial policy and restore the competitiveness of the domestic manufacturing sector through practical actions and regulations in favor of local industries.
