China's leading steel company invests 600 billion rupiah to build factory
PT Elecmetal Longteng Indonesia has opened a grinding ball production facility in Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) on 4.99 hectares of land, with a total investment of nearly US$40 million (about 600 billion rupiah).The venture is a joint venture between Chile-listed ME Elecmetal, the world's largest producer of mill liners backed by the Claro Group, and China's Longteng Specialty Steel, a major player in the specialty steel market with the world's largest grinding ball manufacturing facility.
The new facility is designed to produce 200,000 tons of high-quality grinding ball media per year, some for domestic use and most for export to Australia, with the goal of achieving 100,000 tons of sales in the next few years to become the market leader in Indonesia. All parties are optimistic about the project, with the head of KITB emphasizing its contribution to the regional and national economy, and the head of the Ministry of Industry appreciating that the project creates jobs and economic opportunities, demonstrates KITB's ability to attract global investment, and shows that Indonesia is becoming more attractive for global investment.
