Indonesian government cracks down on 49 billion rupiah in illegal imports in a week

The Finance Minister disclosed that they cooperated with the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs to crack down on the smuggling of illegally imported goods worth Rp 49 billion in one week.The operation is carried out through synergy with the Customs Department, National Police, Prosecutor's Office, Indonesian National Army (TNI), and relevant ministries and agencies (K/L).The operation during the period of November 4-11, 2024, has cracked down on 283 smuggling operations targeting a variety of commodities.
Speaking at a press conference at the headquarters of the Customs Department, she said the operation involved clothing, textiles, electronics, cigarettes, alcohol and narcotics commodities, with an estimated value of Rp 49 billion in one week. Through this operation, the total loss of the country was recovered amounting to Rp 10.3 billion. The operation is still in the process of further investigation and she thanked the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs and staff, the ministries/agencies are working together to implement the plan of the President of Indonesia and well coordinated.
