Investment in Indonesia rejected after Apple ban, four principles to be discussed

Apple's $100 million (Rp 1.58 trillion) investment offer to sell the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia has been rejected by the country's industry minister.The Government will renegotiate as it does not meet the expectations based on the technical expert assessment and does not follow the four principles of justice:
- First of all, the amount of Apple's investment in Indonesia should be comparable to other similar countries;
- The value of the investment needs to be comparable to similar countries and other electronic companies (e.g. Samsung, Xiaomi);
- Import creation of value added and national revenue calculations are not in line with expectations;
- The impact on domestic employment needs to be considered.
Indonesia has sent the relevant director to contact Apple, asking it to send a negotiation team to meet, Apple's investment offer is ten times the previous $10 million plan, which is its new initiative to persuade the Indonesian government to lift the sales ban, the subsequent development is worth watching.
