Indonesia's total imports in September down 8.91% from August

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) noted that by September 2024, imports totaled $18.82 billion. Compared to August 2024, this figure decreased by 8.91%.The BPS chief explained that the decline in imports came from oil and gas, which amounted to $2.53 billion, a decline of 4.531 TP3 T. Non-oil and gas imports amounted to $16.30 billion, a monthly decline of 9.551 TP3 T. Even so, on a yearly basis, imports in September 2024 would have increased by 8.551 TP3 T. The monthly decline in imports was driven by a decline in non-oil and gas imports decline as well as the decline in oil and gas imports.

In addition, all types of Indonesian imports by use in September 2024 showed a monthly decline, with imports of consumer goods falling by $126.0 million, or 6.371 TP3T.Supporting raw materials, which accounted for at least 711 TP3T of total imports in September 2024, also declined by $1.44 billion, or -9.691 TP3T.The same happened to capital goods, which decreased by by $272.3 million, or -7.151 TP3T.By use, imports of consumer goods increased by 11.301 TP3T, imports of support raw materials increased by 5.871 TP3T, and imports of capital goods increased by 18.441 TP3T.
