President Joko to attend inauguration of West Kalimantan alumina smelter

President Joko plans to inaugurate the Alumina Smelter (SGAR) project in September 2024 in Mempawah, West Kalimantan.This was conveyed by INALUM's Director of Business Development during Joko's visit to the MIND ID booth at the Environment, Climate, Forestry and New Renewable Energy (LIKE) Festival 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center. They invited President Joko to SGAR Mempawah for the ceremony, so they want to inject bauxite into the plant.The project operated by PT Bauxit Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI) or the Mempawah Project is the result of a consortium formed by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) and PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum), which focuses on developing infrastructure and increasing the added value of mineral commodities in the Mempawah area. MIND ID has always ensured that the implementation of strategic projects is carried out in accordance with the planned standards and timetables, and has always opened up space for project optimization and acceleration. He also thanked the government for its support to BUMN Mining Holding to increase the mining value of mineral and coal commodities in the country.

They thanked President Joko for visiting the MIND ID Group booth during the LIKE Festival 2024, which really provided them with motivation, especially in fulfilling their mission to deliver the country's mining ecosystem. Joko previously visited the Mempawah SGAR project in March but work on the project is still progressing slowly and by the time of his next visit in September, the Mempawah SGAR project is expected to have reached the stage of 97%. The project will enter the commercial operation date (COD) phase in February 2025, while processing bauxite into alumina could take place in the fourth quarter of 2024. If commissioned, the Mempawah smelter will be able to produce 1 million tons of alumina per year and is expected to produce 3.3 million tons of bauxite feedstock per year. The project is divided into two phases with an investment of about $1.7 billion. On the other hand, at the 2024 LIKE Festival, which took place from August 8 to 11, MIND ID explained how it optimizes the management of water resources in a sustainable way to support the company's operational activities.
