China and India to strengthen cooperation in the field of human resources

The Minister of Manpower is exploring opportunities to transfer productive age human resource capacity from China. She discussed potential cooperation during a working visit to the Shanghai International Training Center (SITC) on Friday. Indonesia will work with SITC with a special focus on competency-based training for all community-based vocational training centers in Indonesia. She listed several potential efforts to be undertaken by both sides to support training of trainers at the Central Technical Implementing Agency (UPTP) and the UPTP Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP).
Other cooperation will include benchmarking of training center partnerships with the industrial world and quality management benchmarking of training center facilities, as well as technical assistance for the development of vocational training programs. This collaboration aims to capitalize on Indonesia's demographic dividend, similar to China's approach. The rich pool of productive-age manpower must be supplemented by improving the quality of productivity in order to adapt to the openness and changes in the labor market.
