Indonesia's Trade Surplus Narrows in February, 46th Consecutive Month of Surplus

The country maintained a trade surplus of US$870 million in February 2024, marking the 46th consecutive month since May 2020 that Indonesia has realized a trade surplus, according to data released by Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) on 15...
Data provided by the head of the Statistics Agency, Amalia, showed that Indonesia's imports totaled $18.44 billion in February, while exports totaled $19.31 billion. The country's trade surplus was largely due to the positive performance of non-oil and gas commodities, although the overall surplus was down compared to previous months and the same period last year.
Specifically, Indonesia's trade surplus in February amounted to $870 million, a figure lower than the $2.02 billion recorded in January and down sharply from the February 2023 figure of $5.48 billion. This decline was mainly due to a decrease in exports and an increase in imports. Compared to the same period last year, Indonesia's exports in February this year decreased by 9.451 TP3T, while imports rose by 15.831 TP3T.
In terms of foreign trade, Indonesia had a trade surplus of $1.44 billion with the United States, $1.15 billion with India, and $630 million with the Philippines in February of this year.
