Qingdao-made" trains won another order from Indonesia! China's first export of electric commuter trains to Indonesia
From Qingdao Daily News Agency / Guanhai News on February 1, China's high-end equipment manufacturing industry has once again gained recognition in the international market, successfully expanding into overseas markets. January 31 marked another important achievement for CSR in the Indonesian market, this time signing a contract with Indonesia Commuter Train Company for the supply of commuter electric rolling stock. This is not only another milestone after the Yavan high-speed railway rolling stock project, but also the first time for China to export commuter electric rolling stock to Indonesia.
Indonesia Commuter Train Company, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indonesian National Railways, undertakes the operation of commuter railroads in Jakarta and surrounding cities such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi and other areas, serving more than one million commuters daily. According to the agreement, CSR Sifang will supply 3 sets of brand new electric locomotives to Indonesia to meet the demand of its commuter lines.
The new electric train sets will feature the latest technology, including 12 cars per set, a maximum capacity of 3,396 passengers, a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour, a durable stainless steel body, and a special design for Indonesia's 1,067-millimeter gauge. The cars are equipped with modern facilities such as LED dynamic electronic maps, passenger information displays, and a simple console in the middle of the train for easy access and maintenance. These new trainsets are expected to be delivered in 2025, which will greatly enhance the commuting experience for Indonesian passengers.
The cooperation between CSR and Indonesia has entered a new stage. Previously, CSR Sifang has successfully provided high-speed train sets with a speed of 350km/h for Indonesia's Yavan High Speed Railway, and since its commissioning in October 2023, these trains have become a symbol of modern transportation in Indonesia, which is well received by the local people and has become a highlight project of the "One Belt, One Road" Initiative jointly built by China and Indonesia. The signing of the contract for the commuter e-vehicle fleet further deepens the cooperation between China and Indonesia in the field of transportation infrastructure, and is expected to promote the high-quality development of both sides under the framework of the "Belt and Road".
Dick Dick, chairman of Indonesian National Railways, is looking forward to this cooperation, which will open a new chapter of cooperation between the two sides in the fields of rail transportation and green energy. Sun Yongcai, Chairman of CSR, also said that CSR will continue to support Indonesia's efforts in rail transportation construction and energy transformation, and contribute to Indonesia's economic and social development.
