China Mobile Indonesia (PT Indonesia China Mobile) will upgrade the submarine cable (SKKL) connecting Singapore and Jakarta to enhance Indonesia's internet service capabilities. The company activated a trans-Asia submarine cable from Singapore to Japan in June 2025, and plans to expand the capacity of the existing Singapore-Jakarta segment in 2026 (specific timeline and scale not disclosed). The parent company, China Mobile, reported a third-quarter 2025 revenue of approximately RMB 794.7 billion (up 0.4% year-on-year) and net profit of RMB 31.1 billion (up 1.4% year-on-year), with approximately 1 billion global mobile users (622 million 5G users, 329 million broadband users). The Indonesian subsidiary began researching the construction of data centers in 2013 and currently cooperates with local service providers. The nearest large data center is in Singapore (10 MW). Building a data center in Indonesia is aimed at reducing latency for IoT devices. Its Indonesian business is divided into three pillars: Enterprise business covers IoT, data centers, AI, software-defined technology, etc.; Operator business, similar to Huawei, provides fiber optic equipment and other infrastructure; Mobile business focuses on roaming packages, sold through airport, e-commerce, and Hajj travel partnerships. In 2026, it plans to expand its roaming market share through the Hajj season. The company plans to integrate smart solutions (covering health, manufacturing, automotive, mining, supply chain, government, etc.) into daily life in Indonesia, leveraging over a decade of experience and 20,000 use cases, collaborating with local partners to rapidly deploy technology, and supporting government plans for food, agriculture, fisheries, etc. It emphasizes that technology is a complete ecosystem including networks, big data, and command centers, not just IoT. It will also cooperate with associations such as APJII, as well as enterprises, government, and regulatory bodies, to drive technology implementation and create a collective economic force.
