The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has shared its views on the large influx of Chinese imported trucks entering Indonesia, particularly in mining areas, and has received reports on many related issues. The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry stated that there have been many feedbacks regarding vehicles for cargo transport in mining areas, where these vehicles are listed as capital goods rather than ordinary goods. This situation requires study as it is important to the public, but detailed future steps by the Ministry, including possible sanctions, have not yet been elaborated. He also pointed out potential non-applicability issues. The Sales and Marketing Director of PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors stated that due to a large number of new heavy truck brands entering the mining industry, the company's primary demand in the mining sector has declined, market competition has intensified, and existing products have been affected. The Minister of Industry noted that Chinese trucks are flooding the nickel mines in Maluku and Sulawesi, and encouraged the domestic industry to prepare truck products that meet mining industry specifications as soon as possible, at least by first establishing assembly lines in Indonesia.
