Indonesia plans to start building nuclear power plants in 2030

印尼计划2030年开始建设核电站
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the plan to build a nuclear power plant in 2030 or 2032 will be reported to the President. The nuclear power plant project is included in the Electricity Supply Corporate Plan 2025-2034, which is currently in the finalization stage. He believed that nuclear power plants could strengthen the country's power system and reduce dependence on fossil fuels for electricity generation, but that there was a need to widely disseminate information on the use of nuclear energy to the population. There is potential for cooperation between Indonesia and the UK in the development of nuclear power plants. According to former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the UK has developed modular nuclear power plant technology with a scale of 300-500 MW, which is suitable for archipelagic countries like Indonesia. The Indonesian government will wait for the technology demonstration by British Energy to determine the applicability of the technology in Indonesia. Currently Bangka Belitung and Central Kalimantan are potential sites for building nuclear power plants in Indonesia, in addition to West Kalimantan. However, the final location has yet to be determined and is based on the government's plan, which envisages the development of a 1 GW nuclear power project, which could be the start of nuclear energy development in Indonesia.
