Chinese firms invest in construction of waste-to-energy projects

PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA), in conjunction with China Tianying Corporation (CNTY) and PT Indoplas Energi Hijau, through the formation of a consortium, is investing Rp. 2.6 trillion in the construction of Cipeucang Waste-to-Electricity Facility Project in the Tangerang South District, Lampung Regency, West Java, which is expected to be construction to start in early 2026.The only final waste disposal site in Tangerang South is currently saturated and unable to meet the growing demand for waste disposal. OASA's president said the facility, which is expected to break ground this year, will handle at least 1,100 tons of garbage per day without creating environmental pollution problems such as smoke and odors, drawing on the experience of similar garbage disposal facilities in Singapore. The facility will be able to handle 1,000 tons of newly generated waste and 100 tons of existing waste from the landfill per day. The project adopts a build-operate-transfer model, with a concession period of 27 years and a construction cycle of three years.
