Indonesia and LG Strengthen Cooperation on Clean Energy and Electric Vehicles

The Coordinating Minister for Economy received a visit from the Executive Vice President of LG Chem Advanced Materials and his delegation at the office of the Coordinating Minister for Economy, where they discussed the opportunities and challenges in the field of electric vehicles, as well as the potential for cooperation and investment of LG Chem in Indonesia.He expressed the importance of LG Group's support for Indonesia's EV ecosystem and clean energy development, and hoped that it would continue to be strengthened. Both sides agreed that Indonesia has great potential for EV development, despite the challenges of declining global demand.The LG Chem head expressed his gratitude for the Indonesian government's support, emphasizing that Indonesia is its strategic partner.LG Chem described its role in the global EV supply chain, including the construction of a battery plant with Hyundai in Karawang, West Java, which is being built in two phases. LG Chem also offered to cooperate in the field of biodegradable plastics, a proposal he welcomed and emphasized the government's openness to investment in clean energy projects, and the two sides explored the potential for cooperation in the processing of palm oil into sustainable aviation fuels, a meeting that strengthens the strategic cooperation between Indonesia and LG Chem in the fields of clean energy and electric vehicles.
