BYD jumps to sixth place as Indonesia's best-selling car brand

In August 2024, the ranking of the 10 best-selling four-wheeler brands in Indonesia changed, with BYD, which had just begun sales a few months earlier, ranking sixth.BYD sells electric cars only in Indonesia, with wholesale data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) showing sales of 2,940 units, BYD's highest sales figure since Gaikindo began recording sales in June.Previously in July, BYD ranked ninth among the best-selling brands, however in August the Chinese brand squeezed into sixth place, replacing regular brands such as Hino, Fuso, Isuzu and Wuling, and BYD's performance even pushed Hyundai out of the list of the top 10 best-selling brands in August. Despite the turmoil, the first to fifth positions of best-selling brands are still occupied by Japanese brands.
