Indonesia and CSR Qingdao Sifang Cooperate to Enhance Railway Facilities Development

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) and China Railway Qingdao Sifang JSC have agreed to work together to develop railroad facilities in Indonesia.The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Qingdao, China by the Director of Strategic Planning and Facility Management of KAI, the Director of Development of PT INKA (Persero) and the President of CSR Qingdao Sifang. The agenda was also witnessed by Deputy Minister of State Owned Enterprises BUMN, Chairman of KAI and Chairman of CSR Qingdao Sifang. The Indonesian side expressed its deepest gratitude to all Chinese parties, especially CSR Qingdao Sifang, for their strong support and cooperation in the development of Indonesia's railroad industry, with which cooperation has been established covering all aspects, from the procurement of KAIs in the form of KRLs and KCICs, to fast trains, to the maintenance and upkeep of trains. Not only that, but CSR Qingdao Sifang has also been instrumental in supporting transportation in the New Capital Region (IKN) through the provision of Automated Rail Transit (ART). This is clear evidence of the strong synergies between Indonesia's railroad industry and CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive Company Limited, a global scale company that can meet Indonesia's growing transportation needs.

Meanwhile, KAI's Vice President of Public Relations expects an increase in the procurement of rail facilities, which is in line with the increase in the number of train passengers in Indonesia.Train passengers in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 1,137,919,196 passengers, of which 9,778,231 were long-distance train passengers, and 1,600,965 local train passengers, which is an increase of 111 TP3T compared to the first quarter of 2023 of This figure represents an increase of 11% from 10252247 passengers.The company has ensured that it will continue to strive to continuously improve the quality of service, safety and travel comfort through various innovations, however, in order to accelerate this process, global support will be required. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive Company and the Indonesian side is a good start to create new opportunities that will bring great benefits to all parties. The cooperation aims not only to create reliable public transportation, but also to improve accessibility, save energy, reduce emissions, provide broad benefits to society, and in the long run develop the Indonesian railroad ecosystem.
