Indonesia to offer a range of incentives for Chinese investors

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) will ensure that potential new investors from China are facilitated in investing in Indonesia, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry said, adding that the facilitation measures provided by the government include tax relief in the form of tax holidays, tax allowances, and excess deduction of tax, he conveyed at the "Indonesia-China Matchmaking Meeting on Trade and Industrial Cooperation" held recently at the Ministry of Industry Building in Jakarta. He conveyed the message at the "Indonesia-China Trade and Industry Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting" held recently at the Ministry of Industry Building in Jakarta. He said the government facilitates potential investors to operate businesses in Indonesia and provides necessary incentives in the form of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives. The government will also remove barriers to make investment and business activities easier. By 2023, the Ministry of Industry has trained 38,387 industrial workers through the Industrial Human Resources Training Program and the provision of industrial vocational education to improve the quality and quantity of industrial human resources. The presence of the Chinese delegation at the event was therefore in line with the government's wishes, and he hoped that the Chinese and Indonesian delegates would take advantage of the event to build a network of cooperation and investment in industrial development between the two countries.

China is the second largest source of investment in Indonesia, with bilateral trade between the two countries in the field of import and export over the past two decades reaching US$127.8 billion by 2023, with a positive growth of 191 TP3T from 2019 to 2023.In addition Chinese investment reaches US$28.4 billion from 2019 to 2023, with manufacturing investment accounting for the largest share of investment in Indonesia, at US$541 TP3T, or US$15.4 billion dollars. Indonesia and China are both vast, populous countries with a long history, and since the resumption of diplomatic relations in 1990, economic and trade cooperation between Indonesia and China has developed comprehensively.
