NVIDIA plans to invest $200 million in Indonesia to create an artificial intelligence center

英伟达计划投资印尼2亿美元,打造人工智能中心

Recently, NVIDIA announced an ambitious plan and decided to spend $200 million to build a state-of-the-art AI center in Indonesia, a strategy that signals the company's deep expansion into the Southeast Asian market. To implement this plan, NVIDIA has formed a partnership with Indonesian communications giant Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to work together on the project.

The AI center is expected to be set up in the city of Surakarta, Central Java, and its completion is expected to contribute significantly to the development of local communications infrastructure, talent development, and digital technology. Indonesia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Budi Ali Setiadi, has already given a warm welcome. However, despite the government's support for this investment program, NVIDIA and Indosat have been cautious in responding to outside inquiries and have rarely made detailed public comments.

The partnership is not Indosat's first attempt to use NVIDIA's advanced technology. The company has previously announced plans to incorporate NVIDIA's latest chip technology into its own infrastructure in order to catapult Indonesia into a new era of technological development and artificial intelligence. While this ambitious goal shows the company's foresight, it also raises questions about local technology acceptance and data security.

NVIDIA's big investment in Indonesia this time is part of its wider layout in Southeast Asia planned for this year. The outlook for NVIDIA's business in Southeast Asia is growing brighter as the region's digital economy grows rapidly and the demand for data continues to increase. Earlier this year, NVIDIA had already partnered with Singapore's telecom operator Singtel to deploy AI technology in data centers across Southeast Asia, further expanding its reach.
