PT Meulaboh Power Generation (PT MPG) held its annual open house event, attended by government representatives, business figures, community members, and employee families. The company's President Director and CEO stated during the event that MPG will continue to be deeply rooted in Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, and will persistently support local economic development and livelihood improvement through multiple measures such as hiring local workers, cultivating local talent, deepening school-enterprise cooperation, and implementing public welfare projects, fulfilling its corporate responsibility for local development.
According to reports, MPG operates two 225 MW coal-fired generating units. It is China Datang Corporation's first overseas greenfield coal-fired power station project and a core power supplier for the North Sumatra grid, providing stable power supply to the local area. The project commenced construction in December 2019, officially began trial operation in September 2023, and entered commercial operation in December of the same year, with a planned operational lifespan of 25 years.
Relying on a standardized and sustainable operation and management model, the project has achieved high-quality operation with the support of the local government and community, establishing a harmonious symbiotic development pattern between the company and the community. Local empowerment is a core focus of MPG's development; the company always prioritizes hiring local labor. Currently, the company has 143 local employees, accounting for 37.63% of the total workforce, allowing local residents to obtain stable and high-quality jobs without leaving their hometowns, effectively increasing household income and activating the internal driving force of the county economy. At the same time, the company regularly conducts various types of training, including vocational skills, professional competencies, and production safety, systematically cultivating professional talent in the power industry and building a high-quality industrial workforce for the local area.
In terms of school-enterprise cooperation, MPG actively coordinates with the local government, vocational schools, and universities to build a talent cultivation cooperation system. Through cooperation models such as internships, technical training, talent incubation, and safety education, it precisely matches the labor needs of the power industry and reserves professional talent for local industrial development. In addition, the company continuously implements various CSR public welfare projects, including renovating rural primary schools, supporting poor students, and funding campus construction. It distributes social assistance during holidays such as Eid al-Fitr. During the 2025 Sumatra floods, while ensuring power supply, it actively donated materials to assist in post-disaster reconstruction.
