Chinese companies vigorously develop Indonesia's landfill gas power sector to generate 24 million kWh annually

Sinohydro Group has recently signed a strategic agreement on the second domestic waste landfill gas power generation project with the government of Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia, with the participation of personnel from both sides, and the deputy governor of the regency affirming Sinohydro Group and putting forward suggestions for cooperation. The population of Sidoarjo regency is about 2.2 million, the project's waste treatment capacity is about 700 tons per day, the expected power generation scale is 3 MW, the annual power generation is about 24 million kWh, and the carbon emission reduction is about 90,000 tons/year, which can realize the recycling of resources and sustainable development of the environment. Water Industry Group has visited developable landfill sites in Indonesia over the past year to accumulate cooperation resources and familiarize itself with local renewable energy regulations and project development processes. This signing is another achievement after the Semarang project. The Indonesian government has introduced a number of policies in the field of environmental protection and renewable energy, including banning open dumping of garbage, adding new garbage transfer stations, adjusting renewable energy tariffs and power purchasing processes, participating in COP29 and committing to emission reduction, which provide potential and impetus for project development. The signing of this contract has strengthened Water Industry Group's confidence in developing environmental protection projects in Indonesia. In the future, it will increase its overseas investment and promote more green energy projects, and it also hopes to attract more Chinese partners to share its project experience.
