Indonesia identifies twenty-one downstreaming projects

President Prabowo recently chaired a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, asking the government to continue to accelerate the downstreaming of domestic industries to improve energy resilience, create jobs and boost economic growth.TheThe meeting developed 21 first-stage downstreaming projects with a total investment of $40 billion. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said the projects cover a number of strategic areas such as hydrocarbons, mining, agriculture and marine. Major projects include the construction of an oil storage project on Nipa Island to increase the country's energy resilience, with the goal of meeting the country's needs for 30 days, and the construction of a 500,000-barrel-per-day refinery to ensure a stable domestic energy supply and reduce import dependency. In the area of coal gasification, the development of dimethyl ether (DME) production to replace liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will be developed in parallel in South Sumatra, East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan. The government will also increase value addition in areas such as mining, and fisheries, agriculture and forestry are also priorities for downstreaming. The President has identified 26 commodity sectors as national priorities for downstreaming, which is expected to create a large number of jobs for the Indonesian people, and the government is confident that these projects will have a positive impact on the country's economy and strengthen Indonesia's position in the global supply chain.
