Indonesia Attracts Investment in Textile and Footwear Industry to Create Job Opportunities

印尼吸引纺织鞋类产业投资创造就业机遇

Luhut, chairman of the National Economic Council, said that Indonesia has become a target for the transfer of the textile and footwear industries over the past year. The textile and footwear industry is very strategic, creating a large number of jobs with a short training period for the labor force, as well as promoting the development of small-scale industries, especially in the food and beverage sector, and opening up a wide range of employment opportunities for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).An investment of $20 million to $30 million in a garment factory could absorb 6,000 to 10,000 laborers. He recently met with the Indonesian Footwear Association and global representatives such as Adidas and Nike, who are optimistic about Indonesia, with one global brand planning to triple orders in the next three years and create 100,000 new jobs. He also pointed out that there are some obstacles to investing in Indonesia, such as land acquisition, licensing, funding and wage issues, but he believes that these can be resolved quickly through good coordination, as the President has instructed a quick response, the National Economic Council has completed a study on the subject, and he has contacted the relevant ministers to resolve the issues.
