Indonesian government forms downstream industry task force

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) said the Downstream Industry Task Force will offer investors 35 projects worth US$123.8 billion (2.005 trillion dong), which the deputy minister said is part of accelerating the development of the downstream industry to achieve domestic energy security.These projects cover a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, agriculture, and mining, and are in line with President Prabowo's call for downstream processing of the country's advantageous natural resources for value addition. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) is currently awaiting the results of its coordination with the task force's member ministries in the hope that these ready projects will be made available to potential investors as soon as possible. The National Task Force on Accelerated Downstream Industry Development and Energy Security was established by Presidential Decree No. 1 of 2025, headed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, with vice-chairpersons being ministers of related areas, such as the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and the Minister of the Secretary of State, among others.
