Indonesia's new energy investment needs up to Rp 1,100 trillion

印尼新能源投资需求高达1100万亿盾

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources is targeting to increase the installed power capacity to 70 GW, of which 601 TP3T is from new and renewable energy (EBT). This target will be reflected in the revised Electricity Supply Business Plan 2025-2034. If we refer to this draft, the investment requirement for EBT projects is estimated at Rp 1,100 trillion, of which the investment in grid interconnection will be about Rp 400 trillion, and the investment in power plants will be about Rp 600-700 trillion.A significant increase in installed power capacity is needed to support the nation's economic growth target of 8% under President Prabowo's leadership. This comes after the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources predicted that some parts of Indonesia would experience power supply shortages over the next two years, a situation that occurs as the economy begins to grow. The Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (DGNREEC) said that after the end of the New Crown epidemic, demand for electricity supply began to grow in some areas, such as the Sulawesi and Kalimantan regions. Meanwhile the Java-Bali region is already showing a yellow light for the next three years, with power consumption rising due to the growth of industrial activities.
