Indonesia's Ministry of Trade continues to focus on illegal imports this year

The Indonesian Minister of Trade confirmed that the mandate of the Task Force on Illegal Imports would be extended until 2025.The mandate of the Task Force on Illegal Imports had expired in December 2024, and the decision of the Minister of Trade had provided for the establishment of the Task Force to regulate specific commodities subject to an import trade regime. He is not yet sure whether this extension will last until the end of 2025 or some other time, and another assessment is planned to determine the exact duration of the extension. According to the Ministry of Trade, the Illegal Import Task Force has achieved significant results in its work, having cracked down on illegal imports of goods valued at 212.88 billion dong, which is the cumulative figure for the period July-October 2024, according to the Ministry of Trade. Targeted commodities regulated by the task force include products such as textiles, garments, accessories, ceramics, electronics and footwear.
