Indonesia Imported 402,000 Tons of Garlic from China in Jan-Oct 2024

Indonesia imported 402,000 tons of garlic valued at US$532.47 million (equivalent to Rp 8.4 trillion) during the period from January to October 2024, the Central Statistics Agency revealed. There are several main source countries for imported garlic such as China, India and Australia. China for 408,400 tons or $529.22 million; India for 175,000 tons or $3.07 million; and Australia for 20,400 tons or $67,000. Of the three main countries of origin, China imported the most, and then there were small amounts of garlic from India and Australia.
Garlic prices rose in the second week of November 2024, with garlic prices increasing by 1.42% compared to the previous month, and the number of districts and municipalities showing increases in the second week of November also increased compared to the previous week.Garlic prices in the second week of November rose to 41,908 dong per kilogram (DGK) from 41,681 DGK per kilogram (DGK) in the previous week. The number of districts and cities that saw an increase in garlic price increased to 196 districts from 166 districts in the previous week. Compared to the previous month, garlic price still increased by 1.421 TP3T, the number of districts with higher garlic price was about 54.41 TP3T, and the average price of garlic for the whole Indonesia was 41,908 rupiah.
