First Frozen French Fries Plant in Southeast Asia Commences Operations

东南亚第一家冷冻薯条工厂投产运营

This year PT Indo Agro Plus (PT IAP) is gearing up for production operations at its frozen fries factory in West Java, a holding company that will operate the first and only frozen fries factory in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia that uses local potato raw materials. PT IAP is the pioneer and the only potato factory in Southeast Asia that uses domestic raw materials for frozen fries, not only in Indonesia. PT IAP's Chief Director said that from seeding, planting, to processing the harvested potatoes into frozen fries, everything they do is done in Indonesia. Currently, the frozen French fries product 100% circulating in Indonesia is imported from abroad, and the imported potatoes are repackaged using local trademarks. Therefore he hopes that the operation of PT IAP Frozen French Fries Factory will be a milestone for Indonesia to get rid of its dependence on imported frozen French fries. Franchise food outlets that currently offer French fries still 100% imported from abroad, and hopefully in the future this dependence on imports will be reduced with the production of their factories.

The director of PT IAP added that the company conducted a production trial run on August 5, 2024 (operational test). Those invited to participate in the production trial run included local government figures, religious leaders, community leaders, mass organizations and residents around the plant. The potatoes used for the production trial were taken directly from PT IAP's greenhouses in the West Java area. The production trials show that they are ready to start operations this year, and hopefully by November 2024 they will be ready to sell frozen French fries products from the factory throughout Indonesia.PT IAP's frozen French fries factory has a production capacity of 500 kilograms/hour, and the company's goal is to produce 300 tons of frozen French fries a month. Assuming 20 hours of work per day for a month, there are future plans to build a similar plant with a larger capacity of 13.5 tons per hour or 8,100 tons per month.
